What’s new in School MIS?
New BI Connector datasets
We’ve released two new DfE datasets to our National Data Connector – the weekly absence datasets covering Reasons for Absence and Persistent Absence figures for all schools in England. Easily benchmark your school without needing to import the data yourself. And with the new Intervention Sessions dataset, you can produce attendance statistics for Intervention Groups. Custom Report Writer updates:
- To give you more detailed reporting options, we’ve added two new base reports to the Custom Report Writer – Student Funding Report and Student Absence Note Report. Both reports help you drill down into more granular detail and inform decision-making.
- We heard your feedback on needing an efficient and proactive way to monitor students nearing the threshold for an attendance fine, so we added two new reporting fields – Count of Unactioned Attendance Fine Records and Unactioned Attendance Fine Details. The “Count” field is particularly useful for setting up dynamic alerts via custom groups.
- For schools creating timetable views in the Custom Report Writer, we’ve increased the loading speed of the Timetabled fields – your reports should load eight times faster!

Small-but-mighty updates:
- We’ve added the ability to bulk issue/waive attendance fines and changed how attendance fines work by removing the Fine Limit Reached status.
- To make it easier for Attendance Officers to spot low-attendance students, we’ve added a YTD Attendance column to the Pending Absence Records tab.
- We’ve updated your DfE Assessment Dashboards with the phonics screening check threshold data, and you can see the National Average and National Percentile.

We know you’ve been waiting for this one, search is now available in MAT MIS, so you can jump to where you need to be in just a couple of clicks. This first version of search includes Pages, Favourites, MAT Staff, Custom Reports, and Help Centre articles. We’ll be adding more search options very soon.
